Lebanese restaurant in Exeter: mezze, grills and sharing plates

Mezze first, then something from the grill. That's how Lebanese food shows up on our Exeter menu at the family kitchen on Western Way.

Lebanese food and mezze at Dahhans Café in Exeter

Dahhans Café & Food is a Lebanese restaurant in Exeter as well as a Syrian one. You'll find us at Fountain House, Western Way, EX1 2DE. Everything is 100% halal and made from scratch. That's the short answer if you want Lebanese food in Exeter.

Most tables here start with mezze. Hummus, mutabal, muhammara, falafel and grilled halloumi get passed around before anything comes off the grill, and the flavour comes from herbs, lemon and olive oil. If you want Syrian food as well, our stews are on the same menu.

Lebanese mezze in Exeter

Cold starters are £7.95 each, or any 3 for £19.95, served with pitta. Choose from hummus, labneh, mutabal, muhammara, tzatziki and warak enab. Hot starters are £8.95 each, or any 3 for £22.95: falafel, batata harra, halloumi with fig jam, kibbeh, full bi tahini and fatteh hummus.

If you're putting together a table for two or ten, our guide to the best mezze in Exeter goes through the cold and hot plates in more detail, with tips for sharing. We've also written about grilled halloumi, and about what muhammara and mutabal actually are.

After the mezze: salads, wraps and grills

Once the small plates are on the table, this is where most people go next:

  • Fattoush: Lebanese salad with fried pitta and sumac (£10)
  • Shawarma: chicken or lamb wrap £12; plate £18; Dill With It plate £20
  • Grill shish: chicken, lamb or mix £18
  • Halloumi wrap: grilled halloumi, salad, sweet fig jam £12

Our favourite way to share is a few cold mezze and a few hot ones, then fattoush, with shawarma or shish in the middle.
